PS in case someone try's to say something along the lines that Kaldaien is dumb (every now and then some cookie like that shows up) for making these checks because they could be easily taken out since his mod is open source then think again. The only thing I don't know is how much pirated version come about since last time we talked about in manner like this that would be much more better point then the one you had tried to make.

Overal, just buy the ps4 version, it is th ebest version by FAR (huehue) Legit copy has it's own problems while pirated version has aditional ones not to mention screw ups with circumventing FAR hash checks which created aditional problems so your point really not valid here. That's a clear indication that the user is using the official mod with an illegitimate copy of the game. It does generate the occasional thread though when users ask why they can't hit Accept on the licensing window of FAR. It's less of an "anti-piracy check" and more of the mod creator doing the least work necessary to protect his own ass from facilitating piracy. It took the creator less than 5 minutes to implement, and can be removed equally quickly since it's an open source mod and that section is well documented. Basically it compares the hash to the original file of the game and if it doesn't match then it won't allow the user to click Accept on the licensing window of FAR. It is a basic checksum validation of the steam_api64.dll file that resides in the game folder. It's not really accurate to call it an anti-piracy check.

I think he eventually got the hang of it, so it might work better now, but it just goes to show that people should be a bit cautious when relying on illegitimate copies and stuff. Instead of doing the fork the right way (it's an open source mod), the guy hacked his changes into the official compiled DLL version, without any concerns for *what* the stuff he hacked away was actually designed to do. Honestly that whole fork had me laughing my ass of whenever someone brought it up for a while. Removing those protections *obviously* resulted in a detrimental effect on the illegitimate copy of the game, since those versions have a different memory layout from the original game, causing yet even more crashes and stuff for illegitimate users.
You're talking about the forked version of FAR where the owner removed critical memory protection checks which were used to prevent the frame rate hack from being applied on unrecognized memory layouts, which could have a detrimental effect on the game if it were ever updated/changed.
